Now that that’s out of the way, we will give you a gift. You will now have the freedom to post any picture you want along with some tweet copy. The text of your tweet can be imagined dialogue for the scenario in the picture, a caption, or a reaction or commentary to what’s being depicted. You are also welcome to include text on the image itself. Points will be given for originality as well as humor, so it’s to your advantage to find a unique picture as opposed to merely writing new captions for an existing image meme.

Theme: Pictures (Freestyle Edition)

Restrictions: No Borat (images or jokes).

Obscure For A Penny Zero T2: Sweet 16

The Sweet 16 round is always bittersweet because we have to say goodbye to some great contestants. Thank you to everyone who elevated the overused dialogue tweet format last round! And congratulations to our MVP for making us laugh with a well crafted joke!

Now let’s do a theme that is loosely based on the “T2” title of this contest. Your theme for this round is the end of the world. You can tweet about Biblical or religious apocalypse, natural disaster, man-made extinction events, or simply play with “the end of the world” as a figure of speech. We just ask that if your tweet is based on an observation, you elevate it in some way. It’s a loose round and if you have to ask if your tweet qualifies it probably doesn’t.

Also a shout out to the crazies that @ our battles with nonsense. This is for fun you sad sacks.

Obscure For A Penny Zero: T2

Round Two. Fight!

Congratulations on surviving the bloodbath that was Round One. Your humble judges are grateful for the creativity and wit you put on display. So, so much wit and so, so many tweets. Now we want you to do it again.

The challenge for this round is to put a new spin on one of the most popular humor tweet formats: dialogue. Write a tweet in the form of a conversation between two or more entities. But there are a few stipulations. Namely, you need to avoid the most obvious and overused clichés of the format.

Theme: Dialogue tweets.

Restrictions:

No “Sir, this is an Arby’s” style punchlines.
No job interviews.

No Barista

No Bautista

No conversations with God.

No therapists.

No genies.

And did we mention no “Sir, this is a ____” interactions with fast-food cashiers?
