Excelsior
proverbially It’s obvious that comics mean a lot to me. Today they are a huge part of pop culture and everyone knows enough about them to get by. For me comics have been a great escape. A world where death isn’t the end or hopes and dreams are attainable with determination and a solid moral compass. My favorite world to escape into was and still is the Marvel universe. Forged by the likes of Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, and many more. Recently one of the final gods of Marvel died. He was old so I knew it was coming but that doesn’t make it any easier. It hurts to see a creative person you respect and credit for making you smile and have hope in a dreary world. He didn’t just create comics or incredible, amazing and astonishing characters. He brought me joy and smiles and most importantly a desire to want to create. I respect this man who became known worldwide for his cameos in Marvel movies. His passing is hard for me but his spirit lives on in the thousands of comic creators out there, in every man woman and child that pretends to spin a web or throw a shield. Whether they like him or not he’s partially responsible for what they do. I know he’s responsible for me trying to do this comic with my brother which is by far one of my favorite things in this multiverse. I did not know this man but I loved him and what he did for creative types. I salute you Mr. Lee and kneel before your greatness.
Make Mine Marvel,
